If you love marketing too, you find yourself in good company!

Have you ever wondered what the best job in the UK is? Looking for work but confused where to set your sights?

Perhaps it’s just melancholy British sentiment, but we can all attest to knowing someone who earns more, who enjoys more holidays or someone who just generally boasts a higher job satisfaction rate.

A new report published by recruitment firm Glassdoor has listed the Top 25 Jobs in the UK.

The information is likely to be of considerable interest to contractors and freelancers specialising in marketing, IT, engineering and financial services, as the industries feature prominently.

Money and prospects

Glassdoor assembled the list following a rigorous assessment of the number of job vacancies currently available on the jobs market, as well as the average salary for each role. Each position was also awarded a ‘career opportunities’ rating. By combining the three scores, an overall rating was generated.

Using this system, Glassdoor identified marketing managers as having the best job in the UK. For marketing managers, the average wage is £46,561, and there are currently about 3,000 roles of this kind available.

Glassdoor said, “While marketing managers don’t earn the highest salaries of jobs in our list, they have the second highest career opportunities rating. Marketing manager is also a role that can work in almost any industry sector, from financial services and consumer goods, to motor and technology.”

Close contenders

Closely following marketing managers, finance managers and mechanical engineers took second and third place respectively in the ranking. Just slightly lower on the list were sales managers and business analysts. Civil engineers, software specialists and lawyers also nabbed a Top Ten spot.

Missing out slightly on the top spots were network engineers in 11th place and recruiters in 18th place.
